Golden Music features Yamaha and Buffet student models saxophones, commonly considered the best student saxophone models made!   The alto sax is used for beginning elementary and middle school students as the Tenor is quite big.  Often, smaller students are recommended to play the clarinet to start also.    The sax is a member of the woodwind family.  Although most saxophones are made from brass, they are categorized as woodwind instruments, because sound is produced by an oscillating reed (traditionally made out of woody cane) rather than lips vibrating in a mouthpiece cup as with the brass instrument family.
